The Fire & Ember Safe Vent
Chief Sweep is pleased to announce its association with Vulcan Fire Brand Vents, representing and selling their fine products. Vulcan has created a vent that when placed in the eaves, it stops embers from entering the attic and other spaces; thereby, preventing the home from burning from the inside out. This vent is manufactured out of hi-grade aluminum honeycomb and coated with an intumescent coating, which is designed to quickly swell up and close off when exposed to high heat. The expanded material acts as an insulator to heat, fire, and embers. After the cells close off they are extremely well insulated and fire or embers cannot penetrate. Even before the cells close off, the vent is designed to protect against flying embers. In many cases embers will attack a home before fire comes near, so this feature is very important. As a firefighter, Richard has firsthand experience battling extreme fire behavior in wild land fires such as the Gap Fire, the Tea Fire, the Jesusita Fire, and the Station Fire, to name a few.
